Omega is a previous AEW World Champion, holding the championship for 346 days. He is currently the longest-reigning AEW World Champion. Omega’s streak was snapped at Full Gear last November, where Omega was defeated by his former tag team partner Hangman Adam Page. Page would go on to hold the World Championship for nearly 200 days before being defeated by CM Punk.

Omega made his return in the main event of Dynamite. The Young Bucks were scheduled to take part in the first round of the Trios Tournament with a mystery partner to take on the team of Andrade El Idolo, Rush, and Dragon Lee. Following the Young Bucks’ entrance, Brandon Cutler handed Justin Roberts a piece of paper that listed a tremendous amount of Omega’s accomplishments. Omega would make his first venture down the ramp in nearly 300-days, accompanied by Don Callis and Michael Nakazawa. Callis would join the commentary team for the match, while Nakazawa joined Cutler at ringside.

Omega and the Young Bucks would score the victory over Idolo, Rush, and Lee, advancing them to the semi-final round of the Trios Tournament. Omega managed to land a One-Winged Angel on Lee, which prompted the three count. The reunited Elite will face the winners of the Death Triangle (Penta El Zero M, Rey Fenix, and the All-Atlantic Champion PAC) and Will Ospreay and Aussie Open (Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher), which was announced to take place on the next episode of Dynamite.

Omega’s lengthy list of accomplishments expands far beyond AEW, but within the company, Omega and the Young Bucks have made their mark. Aside from being the longest-reigning AEW World Champion, Omega and Page held the AEW World Tag Team Championships for 228 days. They were only bested by the Young Bucks, who held the Tag Team Champions for 302 days in their first reign. The Young Bucks are also the first and only two-time AEW World Tag Team Champions but only held them for 28 days in their second reign before being defeated by Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland.

In his remarks after Dynamite went off the air, Omega said that he still has some work to do in the ring to catch up with the Young Bucks. During his several-month absence, Omega was recuperating from a number of injuries he had worked through over the years. As the Elite continues to venture through this Trios Tournament, Omega aims to remind everyone just how impressive he is in the ring. As a trio, the Elite look to add another championship to their impressive list of accolades.
