The biggest roadblock AEW: Fight Forever has to deal with the real-life backstage altercation that took place between CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and various AEW officials. CM Punk is the cover star of AEW: Fight Forever, and one has to imagine that he was going to be featured prominently in the game. However, it now looks like CM Punk will be leaving AEW, and if that is the case, it’s unclear if he will still appear in the video game or not.

It’s unclear how AEW will deal with CM Punk’s likeness in AEW: Fight Forever, or if the backstage altercation during the All Out media scrum will cause any kind of release date delay for the game. Those who are anxious to play AEW: Fight Forever should note that they will most likely have to pay full retail price to do so, as AEW has denied the rumors that the game is going to be a day one Xbox Game Pass release. On Twitter, the official AEW Games account said that it doesn’t “anticipate” AEW: Fight Forever “being part of any mothly gaming subscription services.”
Xbox Game Pass subscribers may be disappointed to learn that the rumors of AEW: Fight Forever coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one were apparently inaccurate, but the AEW Games Twitter account had more than just bad news to share. It was also announced that the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event, scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 19, will feature the next update on the game. AEW Games stopped short of confirming what exactly fans can expect from the update, so those curious will need to tune in to Full Gear to find out.
With 2022 nearly at an end, the most obvious explanation is that the AEW: Fight Forever release date will be announced at Full Gear. Assuming the game is still hoping to release in 2022, one would imagine that it would launch at some point next month, but that’s just speculation at this time. Again, fans will have to tune in to Full Gear on November 19 to see what exactly AEW: Fight Forever has in store.
AEW: Fight Forever will launch later this year for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
